Everyone,

I just found this site and thought I would say hello. I'm new to Laramie, just moved from Colorado and before that New Jersey and before that Kentucky and other areas. I've got to say this is probably the most beautiful country that I've now been to. You may have seen the article in the Boomerang also this past week.

I just moved our company here to South 3rd in Laramie, and having a career fair on the 10th at the workforce center with another company (Wind River).

I hope to be a long time Wyoming resident and just wanted to say hello to everyone.

Nice meeting you all,

Dianne

Hello Evilaynde,

It was Paducah, on the western tip of the state. Anywhere in Kentucky is beautiful as long as you like humidity (I couldn't stand it to be honest).

Where are you going? Wherever you go there just check out the beauty of the area, every area has different things. I love horses, and you'll find them everywhere as well. Good southern fried chicken and biscuits and gravy (my fav is ham hocks), just stay out of the national chains, local fair is always better most of the time unless you like the same food the same allover I imagine like Applebees or something.

I am going to Owensboro. Their website says they are the BBQ capital of the US. When I think of BBQ I don't think of Kentucky. *laughs* I'll have to ask some folks where the good local fare is.

I don't mind humidity. I love any place that has lots of green and trees. I suppose horses would be popular in a state known for horse racing!

Are you the same Dianne Ursini who ran and owned HiMandrake? I'd sure like to hear what came of all that.

Hey Mr. Fuzz!!!! Thanks for the welcome.

I have to admit our job fair with Wind Rider wasn't that successful and we only netted one employee with 3 people stopping in. I'm not certain where the resources are right now and if anyone can tell me it would be great.

Right now we have a new contract that requires technical support personnel for a well known Windows product that will run on Linux. I imagine that you all are out there, and I hope I do find you to come to Technalign!

I don't know if it's OK to ask this question, but is anyone looking for a position in sales, support or service out there? Even Telemarkets that pay above the average. We pay better than most jobs/careers that I've seen thus far in the area so if you're there and interested, please stop in for an interview!

Again, thanks for the welcome Mr. Fuzz!

Dianne

Dianne,

I met you just recently when I walk-in interviewed for a position with your company. The interview didn't bear employment fruit, but it was nice to meet you. Saw this string and wanted to say hi to you. Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas to you, Dianne! I agree, let's put the Christ back in Christmas! Christmas is not a secular holiday, it is a Christian holiday. Let's tell it for what it is. Just like the revolving trees with the bulbs and lights in the courthouse --those are not "holiday trees"-- they are Christmas trees. And they're very festive, very pretty. But let's not pretend for one second that those are not Christmas decorations. (And I understand they were donated by a private foundation, so at least public money was not expended for them.)

It may come as a surprise to you, Dianne, that not everyone celebrates Christmas. I do not celebrate Christmas, nor do my Chinese neighbors. But we're fine if you do. In fact, I love Christmas music and play it in my car as I'm driving. I know two verses to every Christmas Carol (and will spare you my rendition). We don't tell you to take down your Christmas decorations, and we couldn't do so if we wanted to. That's a good thing. This nation was settled by people escaping religious persecution, and so the First Amendment to the Constitution provides that there will be no establishment of any one religion. I support that proposition and so should you, Dianne, extreme right wing or not.

Alice,

Thanks for that post, made me smile.

I know this Alice, as do most non-Christians in this country. I exchange "Holiday Cards" with my non-Christian friends also. Instead of getting Christmas Cards I get Hanukkah cards from my Jewish friends as an example - but I ALWAYS send Christmas cards to them.

As history continues to get rewritten in this country by the new political powers in this country, we have to remember one thing - this country was based on Christian fundamentals and not what we're turning into now as politically correct society. The majority in this country still believe in Christ and the minority does not. It seems that we've become a society in which we try to appease all of the people all of the time now.

We've taken laws and the Amendments and start interpreting these to mean things differently than intended. I'd still like to see the 10 commandments on court houses, I'd still like to see mangers on the lawns of city and town halls across the country like we used to up until a few years ago. Look at England and you'll see that Muslims and Jews still consider it OK to have these on display and Christianity is still taught in schools there without complaints. We've become a country that tries to appease everyone, in the end no one is appeased.

So for me to be PC here, let me give everyone my PC season greetings:

Quote:
To All My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability or religious faith.

To my Republican friends - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Alice, not getting on your case - just adding some humor to the post as it's somewhat funny what this country has become with all the PC stuff going around. One more thing:

Quote:
We don't tell you to take down your Christmas decorations, and we couldn't do so if we wanted to. That's a good thing. This nation was settled by people escaping religious persecution, and so the First Amendment to the Constitution provides that there will be no establishment of any one religion.

I wouldn't tell you to take down any decorations you may have up either for any holiday. The people escaping, such as the Quakers, came because they believed in worshiping Christ differently than did the majority of people in England at the time, sheese I lived in Quakertown, PA for awhile so the history of Quakers was still strong there. Mormons and Jehovah witnesses worship differently but as Romney said we all worship Jesus Christ in a speech he gave for all Christians to understand. I'd like to keep Christ in Christmas if at all possible... But alas it doesn't seem we will as a study I read about families moving from these fundamental beliefs changes in our country.

Thank you so much for the Merry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!

Dianne

PS - Technalign still sends out Christmas Cards and will until it becomes illegal in this country to do so. But if it ever does, I guess I'll go to jail because I still believe it's my right to celebrate Christmas as the birth of Christ as did our founding fathers.

Hattie,

Quote:
I'm guessing that the people who don't celebrate Christmas for religious reasons provide more credibility to the holiday than the masses who celebrate Christmas without even knowing why.

Are you talking about religious prosecution in this country and around the world that comes in many forms? Maybe because Christians of all demolitions band together when persecutions start even in a minor form? I'm not certain what you mean here, can you explain?

To me the holiday is pretty creditable BTW...

Dianne: your quote: "Morons and Jehovah witnesses worship differently but as Romney said we all worship Jesus Christ in a speech he gave for all Christians to understand."

I hope you're not denigrating those poor "Morons" now. They are a much maligned group and need no further attacks.

Now, as for your politically correct quote, I've seen it before ---It's so very funny. I actually do not believe in politically correct speech. I think it's fraudulent and stupid. That's why I said, and I was serious. Christmas IS a Christian holiday. That's OK and it's OK to say "Merry Christmas." Just yesterday, a banker said it to me and I said it back to him. I was not offended. (The only thing that offended me was that no-one shoveled the walk in front of the bank!)

You have a private company and are allowed to send out as many Christmas cards as you can afford. Go for it! There's no law against it. I get a lot of Christmas cards at my office, and I keep the ones which are from friends and throw away the others. You know, Dianne, I'm not going to fight you on this one. I agree that Christmas is a religious holiday. What I do not agree with is the concept that Government should be involved in it. Christmas is a federal, paid holiday. Should it be? What about Hannukah? That goes on for eight days! How about the Jewish New year in September? That is a very important holiday for Jews! So one can see it how this could get out of control. Then this year, we are giving city employees a paid day off on Christmas Eve day. Why? I don't begrudge them the time off, but taxpayer money is funding this. Let them at least have the option of working and getting paid, or not.

You have labeled me a Democrat, and that is true to some extent, though I have some differing views from mainstream Democrats. I do not believe that government should be involved in religion, period. This is for your protection as a Christian, as well as mine, as a ....... Moron?

Hey Alice,

I'm not attacking them here, was only using them as an example \:D Actually I speak to some of the kids walking around town doing their conversion thing. I think it takes a lot of guts actually and I admire them even if I don't believe what they say...

It's probably because the majority still rules in this country - thank God. When another majority rules, as history shows as an example of Muslims ruling in areas of the world - they have the right to create certain protections. Let me try and provide a few examples. Do you know why Priests and other Christian secs wear black instead of white? It was because the ruling Muslims made them so they were not confused with Muslims - something that is carried forward today but not politically correct to discuss as was having Christian women wearing bells on the bottom of their dresses so they can be identified as Christian women and the Muslim men being allowed to rape them at will... We all can talk about the horrors of the crusades, but not what the Muslims did - it's not PC... What we're forgetting is that people should be allowed to practice their faiths, and if the majority in the United States are Christians as it is, then providing the most important holiday to them should be observed. Other faiths can do other things on Christmas and have fun skiing or just hanging out with the family... No one dictates what a person should do.

Again, taking England as an example of allowing prayer in schools and also allowing people to continue having Christmas as a national holiday doesn't cause the same problems as it does in this country.

As for Christmas Eve being a paid holiday, it should remain one... In this time of everyone being PC, it's one holiday that should be remembered and not changed to be PC. We keep forgetting what founded the freedoms in this country, lets not forget them if we can... The birth of Christ was celebrated since the founding of America, why should it be changed now. And the majority of Americans continue to be Christians in one fashion or another.

As for other holidays, I believe this country should allow all celebrations. However, if it is the majority of a country that sets rules, why should we start to change that? That's what I don't get Alice, why change what a majority of the country wants if it doesn't cause harm. If we ever were to hire a Jewish person here, we would also allow them to take off holidays that they feel are important to them as long as they work the ones that they don't believe in. It's only fair I guess... We did that back East.

Quote:
You have labeled me a Democrat, and that is true to some extent, though I have some differing views from mainstream Democrats. I do not believe that government should be involved in religion, period. This is for your protection as a Christian, as well as mine, as a ....... Moron?

Alice, look at history some, you'll find that Christians were and still are persecuted in other countries. You'll also find that in many Muslim countries Christians are not allowed to practice their faith. Saudi Arabia is one example, and not certain if Iran still is another example of not allowing religious freedoms.

I didn't mean to label you anything actually Alice. A political affiliation doesn't mean what it used to anymore as I watch candidates on either side looking the same as the other now in some cases and everyone having to pick by candidate instead of party.

Dianne

Moron - Mormon. Looks like a simple typo to me.
Surely we can look past a missing letter to see the message.

Are all of our posts to be judged by the delivery rather than the content?
