It may come as a surprise to you, Dianne, that not everyone celebrates Christmas. I do not celebrate Christmas, nor do my Chinese neighbors.

This nation was settled by people escaping religious persecution, and so the First Amendment to the Constitution provides that there will be no establishment of any one religion. I support that proposition and so should you, Dianne, extreme right wing or not.

To All My Democrat Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability or religious faith.







To my Republican friends - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

We don't tell you to take down your Christmas decorations, and we couldn't do so if we wanted to. That's a good thing. This nation was settled by people escaping religious persecution, and so the First Amendment to the Constitution provides that there will be no establishment of any one religion.

I'm guessing that the people who don't celebrate Christmas for religious reasons provide more credibility to the holiday than the masses who celebrate Christmas without even knowing why.

I hope you're not denigrating those poor "Morons" now. They are a much maligned group and need no further attacks.

Christmas is a federal, paid holiday. Should it be? What about Hannukah? That goes on for eight days! How about the Jewish New year in September? That is a very important holiday for Jews! So one can see it how this could get out of control. Then this year, we are giving city employees a paid day off on Christmas Eve day. Why? I don't begrudge them the time off, but taxpayer money is funding this. Let them at least have the option of working and getting paid, or not.

You have labeled me a Democrat, and that is true to some extent, though I have some differing views from mainstream Democrats. I do not believe that government should be involved in religion, period. This is for your protection as a Christian, as well as mine, as a ....... Moron?
